Some people are looking for the “quick fix” to success. They jump at opportunities that promise to deliver instant results with very little effort, only to be left disappointed and sometimes worse off than before they started.

The truth is that the quickest fix in life is for you to realise that there is NO quick fix.

Become A Student of Technique

Becoming students of technique is a process that all Peak Performers believe in and practice.  They become so competent and therefore so valuable.

Peak Performers look for the most effective way of doing things.  They are continuously looking for ways to improve.  The top sports men and women will spend hour upon hour practising techniques in order to become more competitive.

We often see these Peak Performers receiving their accolades and we wish we could be like them.  We are not often aware of the days, months and years they put into practising.  Sometimes in the most difficult of circumstances, away from family and friends.

Look, for example, at the great athletes and professional sports personal who will spend days at practising their game.  Sometimes in the cold and wet and at other times in the blistering heat.

Gary Player, the great South African golfer, playing in the South African open hit his approach shot into the bunker.  He managed to then chip from the bunker into the hole.  A member of the audience then shouted out, “Gary you’re so lucky”, to which Gary replied, “Yes, the harder I practise the luckier I get.”

A lady who was a member of the audience at a piano recital that Von Klynburn gave approached him and said, “Mr Von Klynburn, I would give my life to be able to play the piano like you.”  To which Mr Von Klynburn responded, “Madam I have!”

Becoming a student of technique requires you to commit to something. If you want to be a better marketer, then you need to dedicate your time, money and other resources to study, learn and practice – over and over again.

It is in the practicing that you will be able to one day realise how much you have grown and improved… and even reached your goal.

Henry David Toureau said “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams and endeavours to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in common hours”.

What is it that you really want? What do you really want to excel at? Commit to it – become a student of it – keep learning, studying and practicing to improve it.
