It was a Monday afternoon sometime in August of 2023 that I first met Dave and his son, Raynor. Anyone who has encountered them can attest that, once you meet them, you will never remain the same. Introductions and housekeeping rules were done before the training commenced, what Dave said will forever stay with me, a short sentence but indeed life-changing. He said, “If you knew how great you are, you would not be here.” I am sure you can guess what happened next, a room of about 20 attendees all had an excuse why they were there, excuses ranged from, “I’m expected to be here,” “My economy does not work to allow me to pursue my dreams,” “I come from a poor background,” “I don’t have the expertise,” etc, I could go on and on but it was excuse after excuse and nothing that he had not had before, he reiterated, “you would not be here if you knew how great you are.”
The training went into address various topics but that first sentence stuck with me! I kept asking myself, how great am I really? Believe me, it is a question that I ask myself daily in all encounters, thus I no longer serve mediocrity and in return expect the best. Powered with this newfound knowledge, I met one gentleman (in my line of work, I do have the privilege of rubbing shoulders with great men and women, captains of industries, Executive Leaders and decision-makers), I made it my personal goal to learn how these people have become who they are “great men and women”. It’s also crazy that the minute you start speaking that into the universe, you begin to connect with the right people. Before long, I met a gentleman whom I would say came to ensure that I realize my full potential as Dave said in that first training program. A man who focuses on the positive in every situation no matter how gloomy it is and looks at opportunity in everyone, you will be surprised how many opportunities present themselves on a daily basis if you just put on the “greatness cap”. I see this guy running a viable business but also never leaving money on the table, so no business or opportunity is too small for he will go for it.
Two incredible things happened, where I was losing momentum in my career, where I felt I had stagnated, I began to give it my all, not only that, I realized that all great business owners started somewhere so I tapped into my potential and started my own business, this has been the most satisfying thing I have done in a very long time. And guess what, when I travel, when I am up and about, all I see is vast opportunities that are yet to be tapped into… That for me is greatness, realizing that you can proffer a solution, basically, you are the Joseph of your generations.
