With it being the beginning of the year and everyone getting back into the swing of things, I’m pretty sure that many of you are starting to feel the familiar pinch of stress and anxiety that comes with getting back into normalcy.

So, with that said I want to share 3 ways to help reduce the stress in your life.

1. Recognize what is stressing you.

All you have to do is realize the things causing stress and anxiety. Is it a colleague at work that gets on your nerves, are you taking on too many commitments and burning the candle from both ends, it could be literally anything that is causing this unnecessary stress in your life. Once you are able to pinpoint those things that are stressing you put, you enable yourself to start sorting it out.

2. Release it.

When you build up stress over weeks, months, and years, it can become dangerous to your health. So, you have to find the pressure valve and release the stress. This can be done in many ways. What I find works for me is getting some regular exercise and movement in my day, meditating, and just zoning out of the world and breathing. Yes, breathe. I have used a marvelous breath work coach that has shown me some techniques that have had a massive impact on relieving so much stress I have been building up (If you want to reach out to him, you can find him here).

3. Rectify it.

So, once you know what is stressing you out, you can take the steps needed to rectify it. If you know you are taking on too much, reduce the workload by not committing to so much or sharing the responsibilities by asking for help from your colleagues. If you know there is an issue that’s causing you to overstress then don’t let it keep poking at you, get rid of it. No one else will do it for you. It’s up to you. Also, when we really think about what is causing our stress we soon come to realise that what we are stressing about is quite minuscule compared to the grander scheme of things. As someone once said, “Don’t stress the could haves. If it should have, it would have.”

I promise you that if you start to apply these 3 steps in your life, you’ll feel a greater relief from your stress, you’ll feel more renewed and energised for your daily tasks and you’ll feel a lot more joy in your life too. We could all use a bit more of that!

Raynor
